Muiden Castle from the south

Muiden Castle was built about 1370 on the foundations of the original castle which was built in 1280 and destroyed about 20 years later. The castle is located at the mouth of the river Vecht not far from Amsterdam along the trade route to Utrecht.

The castle is nearly square with round towers in the corners. The interior buildings house a great hall, a chapel, kitchens, and living quarters. The moat was added in the 15th Century.

My reconstruction of Muiden Castle is about 43 x 33 inches (136 x 104 studs) and is about 22 inches high.
