Harlech Castle is located in northern Wales and was built by the famous castle architect Master James of St. George between 1283 and 1290. The castle is a concentric design situated atop a rocky outcropping with its back to the sea. The inner ward is surrounded by domestic buildings built against the curtain wall. A massive gatehouse dominates the structure and contains a chapel, a hall and living quarters in addition to the usual defensive features. |
